Only the soft rustle of leaves in the treetops and the singing of the loons, breaks the stillness in this peaceful, historic location where God chose to visit supernaturally for seven days and nights in 1955. Gerald and Beulah Derstine, young Mennonite missionaries to the Native Americans, were praying for revival when a sovereign, divine Visitation rocked their lives and catapulted them into worldwide ministry. The location was northwestern Minnesota at a place now known as Strawberry Lake Christian Retreat

Historians have since designated this outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the beginning of the modern-day charismatic renewal. The Derstines' original homestead, the site of this revival, still stands as a Prayer House on the grounds. An historic marker has now been placed at the site.
